$1 million pot bust in south Charlotte

By Steve Lyttle

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are expected to release more details in coming days about a pot bust Thursday in a south Charlotte neighborhood.

Police say officers confiscated more than 100 pounds of marijuana from two houses in a tree-lined neighborhood of brick bungalows, south of Tyvola Road and east of South Boulevard. One man was arrested in the case.

Police, armed with search warrants, entered a house on Netherwood Drive and another on Burnley Road nearby. Authorities say they found the marijuana -- which they say has a street value of more than $1 million -- along with heat lamps and other equipment used to grow pot.
