South Charlotte Middle School students have a long-standing tradition raising funds to purchase toys for the Salvation Armys Adopt an Angel program.
This year, the students and their families adopted 32 angles (one for each homeroom class) and exceeded their goal of $5,500 raising nearly $7,000. On Dec. 12, students and teachers shopped for their angels.
Shopping for Angels was fun because the things we were buying were for kids who probably wont be getting as much over the holidays, said Rachel Kahn, sixth-grade student at South Charlotte Middle. I think its important to give back because most people I know are fortunate to have all the things they want and need. We should be thinking about those who are less fortunate more often.
