Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski interviewed for the Jacksonville Jaguars' head-coaching vacancy Thursday, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation.

Chudzinski, 43, is one of several up-and-coming offensive coordinators the Jaguars have targeted to replace Jack Del Rio, who was fired in November after posting a 69-73 record in nine seasons.

NFL.com reported this week that Cincinnati offensive coordinator Jay Gruden is the leading candidate. Jacksonville has received permission to talk with Atlanta's Mike Mularkey, the New York Jets' Brian Schottenheimer and Denver's Mike McCoy, a former Panthers assistant.

New England's Bill O'Brien, who was one of the candidates for the opening, is set to be named Joe Paterno's successor at Penn State Saturday.

Attempts to reach Chudzinski for comment this week have been unsuccessful.

In his first year in Charlotte, Chudzinski led the Panthers to the most prolific offensive seasons in their 17-year history. With Chudzinski designing an offense to take advantage of rookie quarterback Cam Newton's unique skill set, the Panthers finished with a franchise-record 6,237 yards.

The Panthers (6-10) were seventh in the NFL in total offense (389.8 yards a game) after finishing last in 2010 in John Fox's final season.

Going Mobile: Ron Rivera and his Panthers' staff will be in Mobile, Ala., this month for the Senior Bowl, but it will not be to coach in the annual all-star game.

Rivera said Friday the NFL informed the Panthers they had not been selected to coach in the Jan. 28 game, which will follow a week of practices attended by NFL general managers, coaches and scouts.

"If they'd given us the opportunity to do it, we would have done it," Rivera said. "Any time you can go and coach it, it gives you the opportunity to get in front of the guys."

Postseason awards: Center Ryan Kalil was the only Panthers player named to the All-Pro team that was announced Friday. Kalil and the Jets' Nick Mangold were the second-team centers behind Pittsburgh's Maurkice Pouncey.

It is the first All-Pro honor for Kalil, who is headed to the Pro Bowl for the third consecutive year.

Looking to the future: The Panthers signed four players to future contracts, which will not become official until the start of the new league year March 14.

All four players - guard Roger Allen, tight end Greg Smith, linebacker Phillip Dillard and cornerback Reggie Sullivan - spent time on the Panthers' practice squad this season.

Sullivan's career has included stops at Hopewell High, Johnson C. Smith and arenafootball2.
