Missing Caldwell teen returns home

By Steve Lyttle

A 15-year-old girl who was reported missing last week has returned to her Caldwell County home and is safe, the sheriff's office says.

Marlena Church was last seen a week ago, when she left South Caldwell High School about 1 p.m. The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office put out a missing person report Friday and said investigators believed Churchy was with an 18-year-old male and might have been in Hickory or High Point.

But on Monday morning, the sheriff's office said Church returned home Saturday.

No further details about the case were released, but Caldwell County Sheriff Alan Jones said, "I would like to remind parents to pay attention to their children's online activities and who they are talking to."
