There are three special Charlotte couples featured in this issue, and each one represents a facet of what a great relationship can be. During the photo shoot with Dion Lim and her husband Evan Panesis for the cover of this issue, I got an inside look at the warmth and humor of this amazing couple. It’s refreshing to see two people so successful in their respective careers with a healthy dose of humor and lightness in their interactions with each other. At their wedding in Boston, they entered their reception on Segways. This is a couple who doesn’t take life too seriously, and it was just a joy to watch.

Our other two featured couples, Ayesha and Stephen Curry and Ingrid Vandebosch and Jeff Gordon, are equally unique. Jeff and Ingrid take the time to use their fame for a greater good, and they choose causes that hit close to home, especially as parents. Their interactions with the people they’re helping show a very real connection to the community around them.

Ayesha and Stephen Curry are dear to my own heart. As a Davidson grad myself, watching Stephen go from college basketball player to stellar student-athlete to NBA star has been a blast. To see the real love between Stephen and Ayesha is inspiring, and the humility of these two lovely individuals sets an example for others.

To inspire the romance in your own lives, we’ve compiled a few gift ideas for the holiday. And even though when you think ‘date night’ you may think of fancy dinner out, there’s something even more special about a romantic dinner in. Try out one of the recipes from Charlotte chefs who are experts in the biz – these dishes are simple and delicious, perfect for dinner for two. And finally, if you’re in the mood to get out of town, try a getaway to Charleston. Even now, when you may not be hopping in the ocean for a swim, there is so much this charming, Southern city has to offer. Take your time with the cuisine, the sites and the nooks and crannies that many tourists don’t have the chance to explore. Read that story here.

It’s not just about a single day, but its own season of sorts. Enjoy a wonderful month – each and every day of it – with the one you love.
