Mooresville has a great new Mexican restaurant thats the ideal place to grab a quick, affordable lunch, and with daily drink specials, its perfect for a festive evening out with friends as well. Tucked away near the back of Mooresville Town Square shopping center, Si Señor Mexican Restaurant is easy to miss, but definitely worth seeking out. Inside is light and airy, with bright orange walls, lots of big windows, and fun, eclectic artwork. Theres also a full bar, big-screen TV and outside seating. Manager Alex Bizcu said business has been booming since they opened last spring, and the great lunch specials always attract hungry crowds. Si Señor has all the options youd expect from a quality Mexican restaurant, including free chips and two types of salsa. And for a great appetizer, try the Fiesta Guacamole. The servers are friendly and efficient, but be sure to indicate if you want lunch-sized portions, or else expect a dinner-sized plate overflowing with food.
A favorite lunchtime specialty is the Burrito California ($4.75), which comes stuffed with beans, cheese, sour cream, onions, and a choice of chicken or beef. The whole delectable concoction is then topped with red mole sauce and nacho cheese. Other tasty options include Si Señor Cheese Steak ($4.75), which is a soft flour tortilla filled with thinly sliced steak, grilled onions and nacho cheese. Its served with lettuce, tomatoes and your choice of rice or beans. If youre not feeling particularly south of the border, burgers and sandwiches are also available, including a rib-eye steak sandwich ($5.25) with lettuce, tomatoes, fresh onions and grilled mushrooms. Theres also the grilled chicken breast sandwich ($5.25) with chorizo and melted cheese, lettuce tomatoes, onions and mayo.Lunch specials are served Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and start at just $3.75. Theres also combinations priced at $6.50 and $6.75.
Texas Fajitas (6.75): This is a great option because it has a little bit of everything: shrimp, chicken and beef, along with beans, rice, lettuce and guacamole. And its served with plenty of each ingredient. In fact I had to take some home in a doggy bag.

--Executive Editor Angela Daley Pollo Loco ($5.50): Its the perfect option if you want a delicious meal but don't want to feel weighed down after your lunch hour. With grilled (but not bland) chicken, rice and a side salad topped with guacamole and jalapeño for an extra kick, this dairy-free dish offered a true lunch portion for a great price. The Fiesta Guacamole Dip was a highlight for me because you could really taste the freshness of each individual ingredient (the avocado, cilantro and other spices) -- it's refreshing to see guacamole prepared in-house!
--Associate Editor Cristina Wilson Texana Quesadilla ($6.75): I had the biggest quesadilla! It was full of shrimp, chicken and beef. The shrimp was the highlightseasoned and cooked perfectly. There were also lots of fresh veggies. And the homemade tortilla was perfection. The fresh guacamole was delicious with chucks of avocado and lots of cilantro, bursting with flavor. This is a great neighborhood Mexican restaurant. I need to go back!
