She said yes!

As told by Dedria:

Being born and raised in North Carolina, I’m a sucker for all things barbecue. So it’s fitting that Phillip and I met at the Blues, Brews & BBQ festival a few years ago. I was waiting in line to buy roasted corn, and the vendor sold out right as I reached the front of the line. Phillip was in line behind me (just as let down as I was!) and we started chatting from there.

The two of us were taking an extended holiday vacation to Boston and Maine for July Fourth. We had just arrived in the city and were taking in the sites around the Back Bay neighborhood. We came across the beautiful Trinity Church in Copley Square, and I brought out my camera to start snapping photos.

Around the back of the church was a charming courtyard with hydrangea bushes and a statue of St. Francis. I continued taking more pictures and assumed Phillip was doing the same when I heard him call my name. When I turned around, he was down on one knee with the ring box in hand. He asked if I would be “his everything forever.” I was utterly surprised, delighted and – for the first time ever – at a loss for words. Amid a series of sobs, I said yes!

Dedria and Phillip will be married on October 13, 2012.
