Observations: Knicks vs. Bobcats

By Rick Bonnell
rbonnell@charlotteobserver.com

You won't see D.J. Augustin in a Charlotte Bobcats uniform at least for the rest of this week. Augustin saw Charlotte-based Dr. Bob Andrews, who recommended electric stimulation and ice therapy for Augustin's inflamed right big toe.

Augustin originally was going to have an injection to treat the chronic pain in his toe, but that strategy has been scratched for now.

D.J. White said at morning shoot-around that he anticipated playing against the Knicks. But that knee bruise White suffered in Chicago kept him out of Tuesday's game.

Bobcats center Byron Mullens had made only 15 of 40 shots from the field entering the Knicks game. Coach Paul Silas said pregame that reflects how opponents' scouting reports have caught up to Mullens' jump-shooting ability.

Those open looks 20 feet from the basket are closing, and Silas says Mullens has to figure how to do other things, like rolling to the basket, to keep up his offensive productivity.
