Authorities are offering a reward for information about the killing of a 32-year-old man whose body was discovered a month ago in a remote, wooded area of Caldwell County.

Jason Matthew Carter was found slain in the woods off Crump Road in Lenoir on Dec. 27, days after he'd been reported missing, according to the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office. He was last seen alive on Dec. 15.

Authorities said they are investigating Carter's death as a homicide but have not said how he was killed.

The Sheriff's Office and the State Bureau of Investigation are seeking information to identify suspects in the case. Caldwell County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for anyone who provides tips that lead to an arrest and conviction.

"Investigators are working hard to solve this case, and we need the public to come forward with any information they have," Sheriff Alan Jones said last month.

Anyone with information about Carter's killing is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 828-758-232 or Caldwell County Crime Stoppers 828-758-8300.
