    January 28, 2011: Bryan Fischer, 7 reaches to touch the trunk of a circus elephant at Time Warner Cable Arena Friday. Through a collaboration with the Metrolina Association for the Blind, about 10 visually impaired children took part in a special "Touch Tour" following a morning performance at the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. • Head to the Elon Recreation Center at 10 a.m. for TAPP: Toddlers And Parent Playtime.

• Did you have a pen pal growing up? Get your children stated early during Pen Pal Day at Discovery Place Kids at 11:15 a.m., and 1:15pm.

WEDNESDAY

• Rumor has it that the RINGMASTER from the circus will be at family story time today at 11 a.m. at the Morrison Library.

• The Latta Plantation Nature Center is calling all homeschoolers for Homeschool Eco-Crew: Worms Eat Our Garbage at 1 p.m. Space is limited.

• Check out Rock & Read BINGO at 4 p.m. at the Scaleybark library. For elementary ages.

• The circus comes to town!! Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey's "Fully Charged" will be at Time Warner Cable Arena through Sunday.

THURSDAY

Happy Groundhog Day!

• It's Groundhog Day. Celebrate with fun crafts at Discovery Place Kids at 11:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.

• Today is Soup Day at the McDowell Nature Center at 11:30 a.m.

• You don't want want to miss the Groundhog Day festivities this afternoon at the Charlotte Nature Museum...shadow check with Queen Charlotte at 4 p.m.!!

FRIDAY

• You and your preschooler can learn about Great Groundhogs this morning at 10 a.m. at the McDowell Nature Center.

• It's FUN Friday: Hat Day all day long at Discovery Place Kids.

• Head to ImaginOn today at 11 a.m. for yoga story time.

• Tonight is Jazz at the Bechtler beginning at 6 p.m.

SATURDAY

• Don't miss the Fossil Fair all day at the Schiele Museum, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

• Lace up your shoes for the UNC Charlotte 49ers Gold Rush 5K beginning at 9 a.m.

• Ray's Splash Planet is offering something for the grownups with classes in their aerobics studio. Check out Kickboxing today at 9:30, and Pilates today at 10:30. $3 a class can't be beat!

• It's Science Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Davidson Library, and at 3 p.m. at the West Boulevard. library.

• Plan a date night or a fun Girls Night Out to Art With Heart and support a great organization.

SUNDAY

• Ages 6 and up are invited to Painting With a Twist this afternoon at 3 for Kids/Teens Choice. Register online.
