Reflections winners show artistic skills

This year's PTA Reflections Competition, with the theme "Diversity means ...," recently selected winners for the district competition. Students from across the country competed, expressing their view through six artistic methods: literature, visual arts, music, dance, film and photography.

District winners go on to compete in the state competition, which will announce winners in April.

District winners in literature are: Olivia Yang from Providence Springs Elementary, Anaya Penugonda from Polo Ridge Elementary, Yeon Jin Kang from Jay M. Robinson Middle and Rachel Cowley from William A. Hough High.

Visual arts winners are: Olivia Yang from Providence Springs Elementary, Tess Ryan from Beverly Woods Elementary, Emily Morgan from Alexander Graham Middle and Jaleesa Mayers from North Mecklenburg High.

Music winners are: Taegan Anderson from Providence Springs Elementary, Emma Zelinkski from Beverly Woods Elementary, Christian Hammond from Francis Bradley Middle and Anna Osment from Myers Park High.

District winner for dance is Muskaan Sachdeva from Polo Ridge Elementary.

Film winners are: Taegan Anderson from Providence Springs Elementary, Kyle Overton from Barringer Academic Center and Madalyn Feder from Francis Bradley Middle.

Photography winners are: Sophie Thrasher from Sharon Elementary, Meredith Moran from Polo Ridge Elementary, Tyler Couse from Francis Bradley Middle and Nilka Alicea from Independence High.
