Hough girls rally to beat West Charlotte, maintain league lead
Trailing by 14 points on the road Tuesday, Hough's girls came back to beat West Charlotte 54-52 and maintain a one-game lead over Hopewell and Mallard Creek in the I-Meck 4A.
Hough (14-6, 10-1) won its eighth straight game, overcoming big games from West Charlotte's Jessica Gaston (16 points, 18 rebounds, five steals) and Gabrielle McClain (20 points, six rebounds).
Ardrey Kell girls stop Butler, get in position for No. 2 SW4A
Coming off a big loss to No. 1 Myers Park Friday, No. 5 Ardrey Kell used a big second quarter run to beat Butler's girls 60-47.
Butler (10-10, 7-4) lost a chance to tie Ardrey Kell (17-4, 9-2) for second place in the Southwestern 4A with three games to play.
Oceania Anderson had 18 points and four assists to lead the Knights. Wake Forest recruit Christelle Shembo had 10 points and nine rebounds. Butler's Jaymee Fisher-Davis had 21 points.

Bri Johnson, North Iredell girls: Playing her first game since an ACL tear at team camp last summer, Johnson had 15 points, six rebounds and a steal against East Rowan. She's the reigning North Piedmont player of the year.
Anika Jones, Shelby girls: 25 points, six steals, six assists in a 56-23 win over Chase.
Shawn Lester, Mooresville: 20 points, 10 rebounds, five blocks in a 63-39 win over Hopewell.
Clayton Massey, Myers Park: 19 points, making all six field goal attempts, plus 7-of-8 at the free throw line in a 79-59 win over Providence. Teammates Patrick Wallace (22 points, five rebounds) and Jaray Walker (11 assists) had big games.
Kennedy Meeks, West Charlotte: 17 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and two steals in a 81-43 win over Hough. Teammate Mike Brown, a Western Carolina signee, had 19 points, three rebounds and two assists.

Diondre Pratt, Anson Senior: Scored his 1,000th career point in a 76-60 win over Marvin Ridge.

18: Steals for Providence Day girls, No. 4 in the Sweet 16, in a 81-16 win over CISAA conference rival Cannon School. Tiffany Mitchell had 24 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and three assists. Guard Jada Brayboy had 10 assists.
10, 12: Covenant Day's Anna Melton had 10 assists in a 69-24 win over Metrolina Christian's girls. Laura Beth Hite had 12 rebounds. Melton also had 11 points and seven rebounds; Hite had 19 points and two blocks.
28: Points for Providence Day sophomore guard Jordan Watkins in a 63-59 win over Cannon. It was Providence Day's first CISAA conference win.
