An argument over a cell phone has left a Charlotte man dead and a Concord man facing murder charges, according to Concord police.
Investigators say 22-year-old Matthew Thomas Sherrill has been charged with killing John Dion Wallace, 43, of Charlotte. Investigators say the violence was not random, adding that the suspect and victim knew one another.
The shooting happened about 5:30 p.m. in the 700 block of N.C. 49. According to police Wallace recently had bought a cell phone from Sherrill, and the two got into an argument over that phone.
Wallace was shot and died later at CMC-Northeast.
