Sylvan Centers offer free tutoring amid closures

The owners of four Sylvan Learning Centers in the Charlotte region say they will provide free tutoring to any parents who are owed refunds from four other recently closed centers.

Dave Rosenbaum, the owner of the Ballantyne, Matthews and Mooresville centers, said his staff will provide free tutoring for the unused hours that customers have remaining on their accounts.

Jim Kicidis, the owner of the Sylvan Learning Center University Area in northeast Charlotte, said he'll provide the same service at his center.

The offer applies to parents who are owed refunds from the recently closed Sylvan centers in Denver, N.C., Shelby, Rock Hill and Spartanburg.

To take advantage of that offer, parents should call the Sylvan corporate helpline at 800-627-4276, ext. 8118 and explain their circumstances. Those interested in sending their children to the University Area center should call Kicidis at 704-408-8770.
