Tara McAlister is MomsCharlotte.com's Deal Diva, giving you loads of easy tips to save money.

A great way to save money is by using ordinary items in extraordinary ways. You'll see here that butter isn't just for Paula Deen:

Use butter to remove waxy remnants from an eyebrow wax.

Rub softened butter into hair to ease out gum.

Butter your knife first to slice marshmallows, dates and other tacky items.

Use butter to polish leather goods such as belts and baseball gloves.

Next time you have to take a big pill, add a little butter to help the medicine slide down.

Butter is a great moisturizer. Try using it on your knees and elbows or as a shaving cream.

Bad smells are no match for butter. After handling fish or onions, rub butter on your hands, then wash them.

Tip of the Week: Bi-Lo and Harris Teeter are offering great e-coupons. Visit their websites and load these e-coupons onto your loyalty card. You can use them in conjunction with manufacturer's coupons. For example, Harris Teeter is offering a $2-off coupon for Downy's Unstoppable. In the Jan. 25 Procter and Gamble's insert, there was a $2 manufacturer's coupon. And the item is on sale this week for $5.99. Be sure to visit your store's website before you visit the store.
