Kings Mountain man struck by train

A Kings Mountain man was taken to the hospital after he was struck by a train overnight.

Kings Mountain police said they received a call around 12:30 a.m. today from Amtrak indicating that one of the company's passenger trains may have hit a person. The incident occurred near the Baker Street crossing. Authorities arriving on the scene found a 45-year-old man with apparent injuries to his hands.

The man was taken initially to Shelby-Cleveland Medical Hospital, and then transported to Carolinas Medical Center for treatment.
