Gastonia police say a man was killed this weekend when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree.

The victim was identified as Skyler Storm Ramsey, police said in a news release.

Authorities were called to the intersection of South Myrtle School Road and Crescent Avenue around 2:13 a.m. Sunday where they found a vehicle that had crashed into a tree.

Police believe Ramsey was traveling south on Myrtle School Road when he lost control of the vehicle and ran off the left side of the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Ramsey was the only person inside his car, and no other vehicles were involved in the wreck.
