Three people, including one who had to be airlifted to an area hospital, were injured in a wreck Tuesday afternoon in northern Charlotte.

The wreck happened around 2:30 p.m. in the 11500 block of Eastfield Road at Browne Road, about two miles from the Highland Creek Golf Club.

At least one person was trapped in a vehicle, and it took more than 20 firefighters about 20 minutes to free the person, according to Charlotte Fire Capt. Rob Brisley.

It's unclear what may have caused the wreck, but footage from the scene shows a pickup truck and a minivan with significant damage to each of the vehicle's front ends.

Two people - one with life-threatening injuries and another with potentially life-threatening injuries, were taken to Carolinas Medical Center. The other person hurt in the crash was airlifted.
