A Hiddenite man is accused of posing as a jail bondsman and then forcing women to stay at his home, claiming he would help them with legal and other problems.
Anthony O'Brian Hill, 41, faces multiple charges including solicitation of another to commit a felony and subornation of perjury, first-degree burglary and second-degree kidnapping. Additional charges could be filed, according to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's office said one victim told authorities she left Hill's home three times after she was bonded out of jail. But he found her each time, and allegedly forced her to return to his residence, according to a news release.
The sheriff's office said the victim told authorities warrants had been taken out on her for a variety of crimes by people she did not know. The sheriff's office said investigators learned the charges were false, and taken out by people who were allegedly offered money or other services by Hill. A district attorney has since dismissed the charges.
Authorities say at least two other women have come forward with similar accusations against Hill. He allegedly told the women that if they didn't stay with Hill and do what he instructed, they would be sent back to jail. He also allegedly harassed the victims' family and friends, authorities said.
The Sheriffs Office is asking anyone who had similar dealings with Hill to notify authorities.
