Missing Caldwell County man found dead

By April Bethea

The body of a 57-year-old Caldwell County man reported missing last week was found in a drainage pipe near his home.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death of Ralph Edward Poarch, of Rhodhiss. But authorities currently do not suspect foul play, according to the Hickory Daily Record.

Authorities have been searching for Red Poarch since Feb. 1. The Caldwell County Sheriff's Office said cadaver dogs were searching the area near Poarch's residence again on Tuesday when they located the body.

"It is a tragic end to the case for the searchers, investigators and everyone involved in this case," Caldwell Sheriff Alan Jones said in a news release. "Our hearts and prayers go out to the family of Mr. Poarch during this difficult time."
