Would-be thieves caught after phone call

Two Burke County men have been arrested after they allegedly broke into a home three times, with the homeowner catching them in the act on the final attempt.

The (Morganton) News-Herald reports the suspects had allegedly called the son of the homeowner before two prior thefts. After receiving a similar call on Tuesday, the son called his father who returned home with a gun, according to the newspaper.

Sammy Lee Hensley Jr., 22, has been charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen property. Nathaniel Cox, 33, was charged with aiding and abetting larceny.

More charges could be filed in the cases.
