Observations: Chicago Bulls at Charlotte Bobcats

By Rick Bonnell

It might have been a Bobcats game Friday night, but the crowd included a true New York Giants fanatic. The fellow dyed a Giants logo into the back of his shaved head, along with which Super Bowl they just won. Impressive.

Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau used his pregame media availability to talk about how "dangerous" the Bobcats were. So dangerous that league MVP Derrick Rose could sit out the game with a bad back and the Bulls still open a 30-16 lead at the end of the first quarter.

I guess Thibs was channeling Lou Holtz.

Corey Maggette (hamstring strain) played for the first time since early January. Coach Paul Silas left it up to Maggette whether he was ready, but Silas thought it would be good for Maggette to at least get in 10 minutes to test his game-shape.

It was NASCAR night, so they had BMX bikers doing back flips off ramps. Saw that every night when Gerald Wallace played here, and he didn't wear a helmet.
