Convergys call center to add jobs

Observers speculate University Research Park employees to work for OnStar

  • The company expects to fill most of the positions from applications filed on its website: careers.convergys.com.

Cincinnati-based Convergys Corp. plans to expand its University Research Park call center by adding dozens of jobs.

The new hires are expected to be added this month. They will work from Cambridge Corporate Center on Claude Freeman Drive.

The jobs will be in customer service support positions for two Convergys clients.

One client is "a cable satellite company," said Convergys Corp. spokesperson Amy Williams. The other client needs workers for an automotive assistance service.

Locally, industry watchers are speculating the new hires will provide automotive assistance services for General Motors' OnStar navigation and driver assistance systems. But Williams said the company has a policy of not naming its clients.

OnStar's features are designed for safety and convenience. The service ties in cellular, Bluetooth and GPS systems along with microphones, speakers and human operators.

Convergys is looking for candidates with strong keyboarding and computer skills, Williams said.

Besides those skills, the company is looking for applicants who "understand really building relationships and resolving concerns someone may have."

A college degree isn't required.
