Kendrion FAS Controls will add 57 jobs and invest $7.3 million as part of an expansion to its manufacturing plant in Shelby, state and company officials announced today.

The company makes electromagnetic systems for vehicles and other products. It currently has more than 200 employees at an 189,000 square foot facility on Airport Road in Shelby.

The average wage for the new jobs will be $32,544, plus benefits, according to a news release from the office of Gov. Bev Perdue. The state’s One North Carolina Fund gave a $228,000 grant as part of the economic development project.

“Growth is absolutely the imperative in the current global business climate to achieve stability and continue to contribute to the local communities of which we belong,” William Brown, president and General Manager of Kendrion FAS Controls, said in press release. “We are very proud of the continued recent growth we have been able to contribute to Cleveland County and will continue to strive for additional growth which will benefit our company, our employees, and certainly our communities.”

Kendrion FAS Controls is a subsidiary of the German-based company, Kendrion Binder Magnete GmbH. The company acquired the Shelby plant in December 2011.
