By Cleve R. Wootson Jr.

Police have arrested a man accused of exposing himself while riding a bike near Dilworth Elementary School -- and who may be responsible for other flashing incidents.

Michael Wayne Adams, 36, is charged with indecent exposure after police say he flashed a woman across the street from the school on Jan. 25. He has also been charged with public masturbation and indecent exposure after police say he exposed himself to a woman walking her dog Feb. 5 on East Park Avenue on, less than a block away.

Police say they were able to track down Adams because of information from the victims and anonoymous tips. He was arrested at his home on Linwood Drive around 2 p.m. today.

Investigators are trying to determine if Adams is responsible for other similar incidents in Charlotte-Mecklenburg recently.

Police notified the public that they were seeking the "Dilworth Flasher" last week, after reports of a man on a bike exposing himself cropped up at Freedom Park, on South Boulevard and on Tremont Avenue.

Police encourage anyone with information about these cases or others to call Charlotte-Mecklenburg Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
