The Hopewell girls claimed their third consecutive I-Meck regular-season championship last week. The Lady Titans, who won their last five games to finish 12-2 in I-Meck play, were aided by Mallard Creek, which defeated Hough in the regular-season finale. They both finished 11-3.Teams compete in playoffsMooresville and Lake Norman earned spots in the 4A dual-team playoffs. Lake Norman was ousted in the first round. The Blue Devils reached the regional final, where they lost to a strong Parkland team 34-31.North Lincoln names football coachDavid Maness was named North Lincoln High's new football coach last week.With three decades of coaching experience, the Whitmire, S.C., native has taken his teams to two South Carolina state championship games.
