CERT Program: The town council has had preliminary discussion regarding a CERT program.The Community Emergency Response Team Program educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their area. It is designed to train citizens in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations. If you are a Weddington citizen and would be interested in joining a CERT or would like to help in forming the CERT program in Weddington, call 704-846-2709 or send and email with contact information to amy@townofweddington.com.UnionvilleJoint meeting: On Feb. 13, town residents met with the Union County Board of Commissioners and the town of Fairview in a joint meeting requested by Union County commissioners. The county recently contacted each municipality and has planned these meetings as a way of opening communication between commissioners and the towns. Commissioners discussed several issues like water and sewer, transportation, and what the county services offer with the towns.Alternate position available: The town is trying to fill an alternate position for the Planning Board.
