NFL combine diary: Day 1 for Notre Dame CB, former Butler standout Robert Blanton

Notre Dame cornerback and former Butler standout Robert Blanton is sharing his experiences from the NFL's scouting combine in Indianapolis with the Observer's Joseph Person. Today is the first installment.

I came in from Chicago, just drove in. It's about a four-hour trip, so not too bad. I got in about 10 o'clock (Saturday) morning.

Headed over to the hospital and the (medical) process over there, checked in and had my blood drawn. I heard it was going to be worse, but I got in at a pretty good time so I didn't have to deal with a lot of the waiting. I had to wait about two hours, so it wasn't too bad. I flew through, no injuries or anything like that. So I was pretty blessed.

"I've been at EFT (Sports Performance in Chicago) training since Jan. 2. Lifting weights, waking up early, running and eating good food. It's been great. I was about 194 (pounds) when I started. I'm a little over 200 now.

I met with my agent (Saturday afternoon) and after that we walked over to the Omni (Hotel). They have adidas, Under Armour and Nike (suites). I hung out, met a few people and got some gear. It was pretty fun.

I had dinner with the other DBs. We got our itineraries and figured out where we need to be for the rest of the time we're here. I met my roommate. I'm rooming with (Oregon cornerback) Chris Harris.
