Grant Goodman, a seventh-grader from Queens Grant Community School in Mint Hill, was elected vice president of the statewide N.C. Junior Beta Club at a February convention in Greensboro.
The Beta Club is a national organization that promotes academic achievement, character, service and leadership. About 3,000 students in grades 5-9 attended the convention.
Grant was the only Charlotte-area student elected. As a state officer, he'll be able to attend the Beta Broyhill Leadership Conference in Gaffney, S.C., this summer.
