A contingent from Waxhaw’s Marvin Ridge High band traveled to Ireland March 14 and was scheduled to stay until March 22, participating in Dublin’s 2012 St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the Limerick International Marching Band Competition.

These students were the only band chosen to attend from North Carolina, and only eight other U.S. bands were selected.

The “Marching Mavericks” are a voluntary ensemble based on musicianship, marching ability and cooperation. They were also slated to play in the International Music Festival at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin and perform a concert at St. Nicholas Church in Galway.
