Approximately 1,000 high school seniors won corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship awards in the 57th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
Most of these awards are renewable up to four years of college and provide annual stipends ranging from $500-$10,000 per year.
Charlotte-area winners: Colin Fitzpatrick from Providence Day School who plans to study international journalism; Dillon Lisk who is homeschooled in Fort Mill and plans to study engineering; Porter Nenon from Myers Park who plans to study public policy/law; Morgan Luke from Hickory Grove Baptist Christian who plans to study engineering; and Emily Costa from Providence High who plans to study biomedical engineering.
