The winner: I always take my reusable shopping bags to the grocery store. However, I need a sturdier bottom in them to support cans and heavier items. I remedy this by flattening a cereal box and cutting it to fit the bag bottom. Then I have a much sturdier bag. Kathy Stoessel, Matthews


Take tennis balls on trip

With summer traveling close at hand, buy a tube of tennis balls. I have found them helpful for rolling under tired feet and providing quick and easy acupressure on a back tired from sitting in a plane or car. They are light and easy to pack. For the seriously frugal – or downright cheap! –you could steal them from your dog…if you don’t mind dog slobber…
