Nine Charlotte Mecklenburg School students were awarded $1,000 scholarships recently for their winning artwork related to energy conservation in a contest sponsored by Piedmont Natural Gas. Each of the nine posters will be reproduced by the City of Charlotte and displayed at schools and offices across CMS.

Winners are: Kiron Fan from Mountain Island Elementary; Grace Weaver from Matthews Elementary; Caroline McGinn from Smithfield Elementary; Lyubov Draga and Mariana Perez from Northeast Middle; Youa Xiong from Martin Luther King Junior Middle; Da Sol Lee from South Mecklenburg High; Ladonna McLean from Phillip O. Berry High; and Kendall Macvean from Hopewell High.
