For the third straight year, Charlotte Christian students won top honors at the 2012 Congressional Art Competition for U.S. Rep. Sue Myricks district.
Junior Carson Kowar took first for the 9th Congressional District, and junior Kate Condon was third. Carsons award includes round-trip airline tickets to Washington, D.C., where she will be honored in June. Her piece will also be displayed for one year in the Cannon Tunnel in Washington, representing Myricks district.
Area students also took awards in U.S. Rep. Mel Watts 12th Congressional District: Keiona Moore of Mallard Creek High took second place, and honorable mentions went to Victoria Kelly, also of Mallard Creek, and Quyen Kpuih of Harding High. Artwork will be on display at the Harvey B. Gantt Center through May 27.
