Major networks unveiled their fall schedules this week.

Among the highlights at ABC is a supernatural drama starring Vanessa Williams set in a haunted New York building, “666 Park Avenue.” A new comedy, “The Neighbors,” is about a family that moves into an exclusive New Jersey neighborhood populated by aliens from Zabvron. Connie Britton will star in “Nashville,” the story of a country singer whose best days are behind her. “Last Resort” will star Andre Braugher as the captain of a doomed submarine. Reba McEntire will star in “Malibu Country,” a comedy about a newcomer to California.

CBS adds “Vegas,” a ’60s mob drama with Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis, “Elementary,” with Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu as Watson, and “Made In Jersey,” about a Jersey girl who relies on her wits to make it at a New York law firm. One new comedy is on the fall schedule, “Partners,” about lifelong pals dealing with life in their 20s.

Fox adds two comedies, “The Mindy Project,” with Mindy Kaling of “The Office” playing an OB/GYN, and “Ben and Kate” about odd-couple siblings. In drama, “The Mob Doctor” is about a surgeon who owes a debt to the Chicago mob.

NBC will start two new dramas, “Revolution” from “Lost” creator J.J. Abrams, about the world after all our technology fails, and “Chicago Fire” from Dick Wolf, about firefighters in the Windy City. Comedies include “Go On” with Matthew Perry as a sportscaster in therapy, “The New Normal” about a gay couple that takes in a surrogate mother, “Animal Practice” about a lovelorn veterinarian, and “1600 Penn,” about the White House kids.

At the CW, “Emily Owens, M.D.” about a young doctor will be paired with the returning “Hart of Dixie.” “Arrow” will be about a former playboy who returns to his old life after being marooned on an island for five years. A new take on the old story, the drama “Beauty and the Beast” will feature a monster and a detective.

Canceled: At ABC, “Missing,” “The River,” “GCB,” “Pan Am” and “Desperate Housewives.” CBS axes “Rules of Engagement,” “Unforgettable,” “NYC 22,” “Rob,” “CSI: Miami” and “A Gifted Man.” NBC loses “Bent,” “Are You There Chelsea?” “Best Friends Forever,” “Awake” “Escape Routes,” “The Firm,” “Who Do You Think You Are” and “Harry’s Law”; “30 Rock” will end after a short, 13-episode season. Fox ends “House,” “Alcatraz” “Breaking In”; “Cops” won’t be back in the fall in favor of sports, but may return in the spring. CW dumps “One Tree Hill,” “Secret Circle” and “Ringer.”
