This week’s “Ask the Mompreneur” features an interview with Lake Norman personal trainer Devan Kline, founder of Burn Bootcamp in Huntersville, NC.

Ask the Mompreneur:

After having two kids, how can I tone up my midsection for the summer?  I know I’m not the only mom who would like to be bikini ready for the beach!

Devan Kline:

Let’s be honest, most of us have kids, work, life and traffic to deal with on a daily basis and we tend to put ourselves on the backburner.  Fitting in consistent workouts is difficult because you don’t have endless hours to spend in a gym “crunching” your life away.

Luckily, there is a simple solution to a tight, flat stomach.  While there is no “magic pill” to getting the toned tummy you dream of, I have created the next best thing, “5 minutes to flat abs.”

Success from using such a short routine must be accompanied by two key elements: proper nutrition and a “bring it on” mentality.  Since this routine is a fraction of the time of traditional workouts you must pack all your energy into five minutes of max effort training. To have a “bring it on” mentality you must know going it that for the next five minutes you will endure some pain, but also know that you are able to do anything for five minutes.

Consistently using this routine for a 4-6 week period will yield a measureable difference in your midsection and is guaranteed to have you on Lake Norman this summer feeling confident in your swimsuit.

So here is your challenge.  Schedule a 4-6 week period of performing this routine every other day by marking the start and end date on your calendar.  Then use these suggestions for even greater results:

- Keep a food journal to hold yourself accountable for your nutrition

- Find two people to support, motivate, and encourage you

- Stay on track by telling everyone you know about your new fitness program, and naturally, you won't want to let them down
