Piedmont and Jay M. Robinson middle schools were among four in that classification from CMS that recently finished in the top 10 in competition for the N.C. Association for Scholastic Activities Middle School of the Year Award. Piedmont and Jay M. Robinson were part of a three-way tie for third place with 60 points. Randolph IB and J.M. Alexander tied for seventh with 50. Smith Middle School of Chapel Hill was the winner.
Schools earned MSOY points by participation and excellence in the four major middle school scholastic competitions in North Carolina: Science Olympiad, Odyssey of the Mind, Envirothon and MATHCOUNTS.
