Hi everyone! Excited is definitely an understatement about how I feel right now, but before I get too carried away, let me introduce myself. My name is Amanda. I am 24 years old, a nursing student, Carolina graduate and a Tar Heel fan (Woop! Woop!). Don’t worry Duke fans, we can be friends too! I enjoy traveling, learning new things, reading, being around children, volunteering, and participating in outdoor activities.

Oh, and I am engaged! To whom you ask? Well, let me tell you about him.

His name is Sherrell. He is a 29-year-old communications specialist, writer and sports enthusiast. We have been together for almost four years. Over that time our love for one another has grown and blossomed to a level that I would have never imagined. It really has been nothing short of amazing. He is such a kind, generous and caring person. Each day I am blessed to know him, and it brings me so much joy that I get to plan my future with this man!

Now that we have a wedding coming up, there is no better time than the present to confront something that I have struggled with for as long as I can remember. Many of you have probably had battles with maintaining a healthy weight – and I’m no different.

Eating right and living healthy has always been challenging for me. It obviously is not something that changes overnight. It’s a process that takes time, persistence and dedication. I am ready to make the commitment to get fit for my future husband, my future children and most importantly myself. I say this because I realize that to have long term success I have to do it for myself first.

Marriage will be the beginning of a new life with Sherrell. What better way to start this new life than as a healthier me? I want to feel good, look great and live a long, full life. Being a part of the Get Fit Challenge is the opportunity to create a new lifestyle and become my best self before my wedding. What is most exciting is that I get to share this journey with you! So please join me, and embark on your own Get Fit adventure. It will be fun, and I will be with you every step of the way! I’m ready. Are you?
