Five people were taken to the hospital with injuries that weren’t life-threatening after a Charlotte Area Transit System bus collided with a BMW on Sunday afternoon.

The collision happened just before 2 p.m. at East Trade and North College streets, just a block from the transportation center. It appeared that the BMW crashed into the back of the bus, although all the injured people seemed to come from the bus.

Paramedics could be seen attending to bus passengers, including one woman who was put onto a stretcher with a neck brace. The bus was parked blocking the street, a “Not in service” sign flashing.

The patients were taken to Presbyterian Hospital.

Police hadn’t released a cause of the wreck or said whether anyone would face charges. Jeff Willhelm contributed.
