I’m not sure what we were admiring more this episode, the bachelors or the scenery. I know my travel fever was going crazy over the crystal blue waters and colorful island towns of Bermuda. However, the relaxing island vibes weren’t enough to cool the tension between the bachelors.

Poor Doug received most of the pressure this week. Arie was quick to tease him about his first date and Chris believes he is “over the top humble.” He took a moment to talk to Doug alone, and it was surprising to see sweet Chris turn so confrontational. It left me wondering about his character more than Doug’s.

Emily had a few concerns of her own about Doug. She’s worried that he is too perfect and tried to question him about his flaws. When she started listing her own imperfections, she realized it’s tough to be critical and gave him a rose.

After the first date, we got lots of views of Bermuda. The group date started with a sailing competition on the gorgeous waters, and the two on one date was in an underground cavern. Jef took the group date as an opportunity to open up and earned himself a rose. Meanwhile, the two on one date with Nate and John was a little uncomfortable. I think the awkwardness made it hard for either of the bachelors to shine, but because of his youth, Emily chose to send Nate home. She felt he didn’t have enough life experience to be a parent, and while we didn’t know him well, I think she was right.

Throughout the episode, we saw more and more of Ryan’s true colors as well. Not only did he refer to her as a trophy wife, but he seemed a little judgmental about her time with Arie. Also, he’s already imagining a position as ABC’s next bachelor. Emily admitted that she knows Ryan is manipulative, so I was surprised when she decided to send Charlie and Michael home instead of him. I am confident he won’t be receiving the final rose though.

While the bachelors enjoyed stranger tides and glorious weather, there’s no doubt that a storm front is rolling in. There was a lot of tension this week, and based on the previews, there’s only more to come. Even Emily gets a little heated in the upcoming episode. Of course, I might miss all of that amongst the sights of my homeland.
