Kannapolis police say they have two men in custody in connection with the beating and robbery of a man inside his residence late Friday night.

According to police, Juan Gonzales Amaya and Jose Daniel Soto, each of Kannapolis, are being held under $300,000 bond in Cabarrus County Jail. They are charged each with robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, and first-degree burglary.

Police say they received a 911 call about 11 p.m. Friday to a residence in the 900 block of Airline Drive. Officers were told that a robbery might have taken place, and that two people had run from the scene.

When officers arrived, they found the victim sitting in his living room, with numerous lacerations on his head. The man told police he was asleep when two armed men wearing black clothing and ski masks entered the house, came into his room, and began beating him.

The attackers took the man’s cell phone and then fled.

Police began searching the area, and they say an officer spotted a 2004 Buick being driven without headlights on Bishop Lane, near

Concord Lake Road. The officer stopped the vehicle and said he found evidence linking him to the robbery. The two men who were arrested were the men in the car, according to investigators.
