A 35-year-old woman was jailed on Saturday after she was accused of castrating a man in Cleveland County, reports the Shelby Star.

Joyce Maxine Gregory was arrested Saturday and charged with malicious castration and assault causing serious bodily injury.

The Star reports that Gregory and a 59-year-old man got into an argument early Saturday at a home on Bowman Street in Shelby. The man told Shelby police that he went outside to call 911 but then Gregory grabbed his genitals and squeezed.

The man freed himself, according to the Star, and then walked to a nearby rescue squad building for help. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

When police arrived to arrest Gregory, officers put her in the back seat of patrol car, where she removed her pants and urinated, the Star reports.

Gregory remained in Cleveland County jail on Tuesday.

A search of N.C. court records shows Gregory has been convicted of impeding traffic and possessing drug paraphernalia. In South Carolina, she’s been convicted of prostitution, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and drug possession, according to records.
