6 graduations Tuesday along Independence

Motorists who use East Independence Boulevard and Monroe Road will have extra company Tuesday -- in the form of high school graduates and family members.

Six Charlotte-Mecklenburg commencement exercises are scheduled at Bojangles Coliseum and adjacent Ovens Auditorium.

The worst congestion is likely shortly before Providence High’s noon graduation at Bojangles Coliseum, and again around 5 to 5:30 p.m., with the end of Harding University High’s ceremony at Bojangles and Northwest School of the Arts’ event next door at Ovens.

Another busy place Tuesday will be Cabarrus Arena and Events Center, the site of three Cabarrus County Schools graduations.

The graduation schedule Tuesday:

MECKLENBURG

West Charlotte: 8:30 a.m., Bojangles Coliseum.

Hawthorne: 9 a.m., Ovens Auditorium.

Providence: noon, Bojangles Coliseum.

Performance Learning Center: 12:30 p.m., Ovens Auditorium.

Harding University: 3:30 p.m., Bojangles Coliseum.

Northwest School of the Arts: 4 p.m., Ovens Auditorium.

CABARRUS (at Cabarrus Arena)

Cox Mill: 12:30 p.m.

Hickory Ridge: 4 p.m.
