A 7-week-old girl has a fractured skull and other injuries, and her 19-year-old father is charged with child abuse in the case, the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office says.
Investigators say they have charged Jordan Alan Minteer, who lives on Summerow Road near Lincolnton, with felony child abuse-serious bodily injury. He is jailed under $125,000 bond.
According to deputies, Lincoln County's social services department alerted investigators over the weekend that the infant girl was admitted to the Levine Children's Hospital at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte with the skull fracture, brain bleeding, and broken ribs.
She remains in intensive care, deputies say.
