The winner: My wife and I love our zero gravity recliners, but soon realized that the lower support bar matched up painfully with either my barefoot arch or Achilles tendon. I solved this problem by cutting a swim noodle to size and slicing it lengthwise in order to slip it over the support bar. Now I am kicking back comfortably in Newton! Mike Sprouts, Newton

Use clothes dryer to corral lost socks

I was so tired of the basket of mismatched socks in our laundry, and I was the only one in my family that seemed to try and reconcile them. I started throwing the extras back into the dryer and they usually find their mate after a cycle or two. If they stay in for more than a month I trash them.
