Myrtle Beachs Springmaid Beach Resort has a Hawaiian buffet at 7 p.m. Sundays and Chief Kamus Fire & Hula Show an hour later. Tickets for the buffet and show featuring Chief Kamus Polynesian fire dance are $39 plus tax; $12.95 for kids, in advance; tickets are $10 more at the door. Lecture and tour of historic opera house
At 6:30 p.m. June 21, the Historical Society of Stanly County and the Stanly County Museum will offer a program on the history of the Albemarle Opera House from its origins and heyday to its ghosts. Pageant gowns, swimsuits on display
Miss North Carolina: Celebrating 75 Years of Memories opens June 22 at N.C. Museum of History, 5 E. Edenton St. in downtown Raleigh. The retrospective of the pageant, which includes evening gowns, swimsuits and memorabilia, runs through Nov. 25. Museum admission is free. Hours: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday, noon-5 p.m. Sundays. Shindig on the Green opens 2012 season
The free Shindig on the Green music series on a stage in Ashevilles Pack Square Park begins June 30 and continues July 7, 14, 21, Aug. 11, 18, 25 and Sept. 1. The three-hour performances of traditional mountain music and dance begin a little after 7 p.m. Details: www.folkheritage.org.
