Wrecks being cleared, traffic improves

By Steve Lyttle

Traffic has returned to normal across the Charlotte region Monday morning after a commute that included several injury collisions.

For the most part, the area's major roadways were not affected by the collisions, although congestion caused some slowdowns.

Shortly before 9:45 a.m., there were few reports of slow traffic around the Charlotte region. Police were still working to clear a wreck on North Tryon Street at Craighead Avenue. One person was injured in the collision and taken to a hospital by Medic for treatment.

Other notable incidents were a collision on inbound East Independence Boulevard near the uptown area, which caused slowdowns for about 30 minutes; and an injury crash on Sharon Amity Road near Hickory Grove Road.
