Police have charged a 17-year-old with murder, 10 days after a man was gunned down in a neighborhood northwest of Charlotte’s uptown.
On Tuesday, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they’d arrested Bobby Renard Glenn in connection with the death of Gregory Lamont Kilgo, 32.
On June 9, officers responding to a report of a shooting around 9 p.m. found Kilgo lying on the ground on Coxe Avenue, off Rozzelles Ferry Road and not far from Johnson C. Smith University.
Kilgo had been shot multiple times, police said. He died at the scene.
Police have not revealed a possible motive in the killing.
Since 2011, Glenn of Charlotte has been jailed several times in Mecklenburg County on charges including disorderly conduct, larceny, loitering for drug activity and possession of stolen goods. The dispositions of those cases were not immediately available.
Police said Glenn was at CMPD headquarters Tuesday evening and would be taken to jail, where he will remain in custody.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
