Happy Monday! I hope everyone found some motivation in my previous blog and is well on their way to a healthier lifestyle!
Today I wanted to tackle the f-word Food! Now, Im a firm believer in not being scared of food. I think we should all be able to eat what we want as long as its in small quantities. Thats where self discipline comes in. Unfortunately, things like thin mint Girl Scout cookies or peanut butter cups dont play well in the self discipline department for me. I have learned a nifty little trick though! As soon as I open something, I need to divide it up right away. Those half-size sandwich bags seem to work just fine. I divide up one serving (or a half depending on how many grams of fat there are), place the snack in a bag, and then store them away and throw out the box. By having an open box sitting in the pantry by its lonesome, it opens up more of an opportunity to ransack. Easy fix. When it comes to meals however, being a vegetarian can be hard! Especially being engaged to a carnivorous vacuum. This is where the give-a-little-take-a-little theory had to come into play. I dont expect my fiancé to become a full-blown vegetarian that would be unreasonable. He accepts me for the choices I make just as I accept him for his. So, what has worked for us thus far is making compromises. He knows I gag at the sight of ground beef, so if he wants it in his spaghetti, he makes his own sauce with it mixed it. If hes really craving a burger, Im all for having a cookout with my veggie burger in hand for me while he grills his not-so-very veggie patty up. I have deceived him before by using fake meat in chili once, but hey let's not revisit the past! : )Side note: contrary to popular belief vegetarians can be overweight, too! Its called carbo-cide and Ive committed it on multiple occasions. If youre considering becoming a vegetarian (you go girlfran!), make sure you are eating a wide verity of things and not just hefty starches like pastas and breads. Look into beans (I LOVE kidney beans with light Italian dressing as a snack), cottage cheese, tofu, or even egg whites to avoid carb-overload.In wedding world, I did a little DIY to my navy blue wedding shoes. I would love to share, but want to keep them secret! I think its great how jazzed up shoes are becoming a trend now. Ive seen some really cute out-of-the-box ideas! Maybe it could be another way for you to incorporate your style into your big day?Stayin alive through week five! (Haha you see what I just did there?)World peace and skinny jeans,Sheri xo
