Wednesday is National HIV Testing Day, an annual campaign by the National Association of People with AIDS.
Here are a few free-testing events in Charlotte:
-SMASH!! (Stopping Mecklenburg’s Acceleration of Syphilis and HIV!!) is holding free and confidential HIV and Syphilis testing at the Employment Security office: 5601 Executive Center Drive, room 220. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
-The Mecklenburg County Health Department will be offering free testing at the LGBT Community Center of Charlotte located at 820 Hamilton Street, Suite B11, in the NC Music Factory, from 5 p.m to 7 p.m. The center hosts free testing for HIV and Syphilis every Wednesday. -Regional AIDS Interfaith Network (RAIN) will be testing at its office at 501 N. Tryon Street, 4th floor, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
In partnership with the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Queen City chapter, RAIN will be teaching Uptown passersby about the importance of getting tested during an 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. outreach campaign called “I Know Mine,” on Trade Street, Tryon Street and surrounding areas.
